                                                                 Brief History

This private, non-profit agency was incorporated in July of 1970 as the "Chippewa County Council on
Alcoholism."  They have always been located at their current site, made possible by the generosity of
the Edward and Hannah M. Rutledge Charities.  Over the years, the "Council" changed its name twice,
most recently in 2006 to "
Pathways: Substance Abuse Prevention & Intervention Services."  The focus
of their programs and services has changed over the years, adapting to meet the changing needs in
Chippewa County.  Over the years, they have benefited from the support of the United Way of
Chippewa County.
